Ok, so we’re calling this podcast the Boedkast, but we don’t actually have that much to say about the sexy Dane. Instead, we have a lot to tackle around the trade deadline (Erik Karlsson rumors and Evander Kane move) and even more around the two wins that came after the former Saber joined the #sjsharks. Tune in and hear it all!

CTC Podcast 88 – The Kane Konspiracy
The trade deadline is upon us and the Boston Bruins have wreaked havoc on the costs for underperforming UFAs by sending a boatload of crap to New York for Rick Nash. So if Doug is hoping to pry Evander Kane loose from Buffalo for peanuts, that plan is probably now kaput. Which is fine. Meanwhile, the Sharks had something of an up-and-down week, but that’s better than the couple of weeks that Aaron Dell has had. Alex, Ben and Colin talk about all that and more in this week’s podcast.
CTC Podcast 87 – The Hertl Impairment
In the short term, this was a great week for the #sjsharks. They won 3 of 4 games and kept hold of second in the Pacific. But at the same time, their depth was tested even further when another dirty hit removed Tomas Hertl from the lineup for an indeterminate amount of time. Meanwhile, DeBoer flailed about, first playing Burns at forward and then shortening his bench (potentially wearing down players that can’t really afford to accumulate wear and tear at this point). Which brings us once again to the discussion: what is this season about? What’s left in the cupboard? At least we aren’t Edmonton? All this and more.
CTC Podcast 86 – The Ward Assassination
Despite technical difficulties, Ben and Alex did pull of a podcast…at least better than Brent Burns pulls off defensive zone play right now. We express our frustrations with the play of the mercurial defensemen, especially as the #sjsharks otherwise solid play would be keeping their heads above water in the Pacific if not for his miscues. DeBoer has one job – to get Burns right before this team falls out of a playoff spot.
CTC Podcast 85 – The All-Star Allotment
With Jumbo out, a team that was already trying (and succeeding, but just barely) to replace Patrick Marleau’s scoring is now faced with replacing a Hall of Famer. This week showed that they can do it, but it requires every player (and we’re looking at you, Burns) to be at their best all the time. When they were, the #sjsharks got points. Otherwise…woof (Pens game). Alex, Ben and Colin talk about all this and moving forward. Also, San Jose gets next year’s ASG!
CTC Podcast 84 – The Jumbo Impairment
No, we don’t know when Jumbo will be back. But we do know he’ll probably rush back. With Jumbo’s injury, though, the Sharks are in an interesting conundrum. Will they make a panic trade to try to buoy the team while Thornton is out? Or will the young guys step up and keep the team’s head above water? Alex, Ben and Colin discuss this and more in this week’s podcast.
CTC Podcast 83 – The Nieto Nightmare
OK, sure, Matt Nieto only returned to haunt the #sjsharks in one of the five games we covered in this podcast. But still, if I have to live with Mikkel Boedker being on this team, then I get to complain about how Nieto has 4 more points than that dude on the year. Anyway, Ben, Colin and Alex talk about that, the alleged injury to Martin Jones that has caused the team to recall Troy Grosenick, Paul Martin’s waiver adventure and more!
CTC Podcast 82 – The Burns Bungling
Not a great week for our heroes in teal. Blown out in Dallas at the beginning of the trip, a good win against a bad team for some redemption and then two overtime losses (one in the shootout). So we were a bit salty. Game discussion alongside more talk about Dell’s trade value in this week’s podcast.
CTC Podcast 81 – The Meier Mauling
Only two games this week, so we dove into some other topics alongside the game analysis (so-called) you’ve come to expect from Ben and Alex.
Has Timo Meier been one of the top 3 Sharks for the last few weeks?
Is Tomas Hertl better than Logan Couture, right now (injuries aside)?
Is Peter DeBoer, as Kevin Kurz might suggest, above reproach for coaching this team into a solid playoff spot so far?
Why did the Sharks sign a couple of junior players before the trade deadline?
All this and more this week.
CTC Podcast 80 – The Dell Redundancy
Alex and Ben met up to talk about the Sharks and many of the conversations were a continuation of those from last week – What do the Sharks do in Logan Couture’s absence? Is there an asset that other teams want besides Aaron Dell? Who is going to step up among the Sharks’ young core, if anyone? Also, some thoughts on a loss to Edmonton and a win against Vancouver. Go Sharks!
