The San Jose Sharks were bounced from the playoffs by bad luck and poor coaching decisions, so now Ben and Alex get to talk about what’s next for Evander Kane, Joe Thornton, Tomas Hertl, Logan Couture and…John Tavares??? Pete DeBoer has been exposed in this series (even more so than he was last year when he ran a guy with no knee ligament into the ground in Game 6), outcoached by the fans and Gerard Gallant at almost every turn. Choosing not to ‘overthink’ thinks in regards to the great Martin/Ryan debate cost the Sharks a game, as did overthinking when to pull his goalie in Game 5. So here we are — with the Sharks need to win 2 straight against a probably superior team (certainly, at least, better in the coaching areas). Ben, Colin and Alex discuss this and more in our weekly podcast.

The #sjsharks are coming home with one win in two chances against Vegas, but they could have been down two games to nil. So there’s work to do. Ben and Colin talk about Colin’s perspective on the Ducks’ series and his thoughts about the Vegas series before jumping into one of the worst Sharks losses of all time and the HUGE win in game two. Where do things go from here? We have thoughts.

A sweep — a veritable sweep! The San Jose Sharks now get to sit and wait for the first round to conclude before traveling to Vegas to play the Golden Knights. And will apparently be big underdogs, it seems. Alex and Ben talk about how the Sharks and Knights reached the second round, the similarities in their play against bad Pacific Division teams in the first round, and what we expect from the second round series. We also talk about what happens to the Sharks lineup when Jumbo inevitably returns to the lineup some time soon. For now, everyone rests and gets healthier — just what the doctor literally ordered.

The #sjsharks were measured by most to be, at best, an even matchup for the Anaheim Ducks as this series approached, largely, I’d have to think, because of differences between how their seasons ended. Now, this mainly came down to health issues for the Sharks, with most of their 4th line and Evander Kane being injured. So, it turns out a healthy Sharks team has had their way on the road against the Ducks so far. Will this success continue for the Sharks the rest of the series? We have thoughts.

It’s time to talk about what the #sjsharks are going to do in the playoffs. Unfortunately, since DeBoer doesn’t seem to be sure who he’s going to be playing or have available, we…kinda don’t know. But we can speculate. And we do. All that and some coverage of this week’s not great performances.

Yeah, ok, we only really touch on emergency Blackhawks goalie Scott Foster briefly, but how could I pass up the option to tip the hat to him in our podcast naming? Alex and I talk about two weeks’ worth of games and what they tell us about what the #sjsharks will be in the playoffs this year. Enjoy and go Sharks!

A week that didn’t begin very promisingly, with the #sjsharks getting shut out by the Capitals, finished on a high note if you’re not accounting for a potentially devastating injury to revitalized Joonas Donskoi. The team’s playing coy with the details on that, by the way. Big shock. Regardless, after scoring zero in the Saturday game, the Sharks went on to put up 16 goals in winning the next three. And only one Rooster Trick in the bunch. All this and more.

Do you hate weeks in which the #sjsharks only have two games? Because we’re right there with you. Regardless, there was some stuff worth talking about, so Ben, Colin and Alex share their thoughts on the win(s), the loss(es), and the tire fire that is the Carolina Hurricanes’ GM situation…just because. We also roast Edmonton, because, duh.
